My painting, Timeless Beauty, embodies all of these aspects of the American Southwest and the merging of cultures that happen here in Santa Fe. It captures the traditional Pueblo style building complete with adobe and straw walls, viga beams, and well worn Spanish style turquoise shutters; the beautiful hollyhocks, brought by Spanish settlers in the 1500’s, and now the most beloved flower of Santa Fe; and the young, lovely Pueblo girl wearing the traditional woven black manta, red sash and turquoise jewelry. All these together represent the ancient and modern, the traditional and the contemporary that are characteristic of New Mexico and Santa Fe…the City Different.
